Patna: The Second State-Level Art Exhibition 2024–25 was inaugurated in Patna on Friday by Bihar’s Art, Culture and Youth Minister, Moti Lal Prasad. Organised by the Bihar Lalit Kala Academy under the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, the exhibition highlights exceptional works by artists from across the state.

Held at 4pm, the ceremony featured the release of the exhibition catalogue and a felicitation programme, where the minister and senior department officials were honoured with green plants and mementos by Academy Secretary Amrita Pritam. Selected artists also received shawls and participation certificates.

The exhibition features 118 curated works spanning painting (34), sculpture (17), photography (18), drawing (6), graphics (12), and folk art (31). The jury-selected artworks represent excellence across these mediums, capturing the cultural and creative breadth of Bihar’s artistic landscape.

Nine artists were awarded a prize of Rs 50,000 each for their outstanding contributions in their respective genres: Anita Kumari (Drawing), Sandhya Yadav and Rakhi Kumari (Graphics), Gulshan Maurya and Manoj Kumar Gupta (Photography), Pramod Prakash (Painting), Savita Kumari and Sadhna Devi (Folk Art), and Rajiv Ranjan and Ravi Prakash Yadav (Sculpture).

“The department is providing a valuable platform for local artists to showcase their talent,” said a visitor at the event, adding that the initiative was a commendable effort to promote visual arts in the state.

The event also saw participation from co-coordinator Archana Sinha and fellow organisers Jitendra Mohan, Birendra Kumar Singh, Manoj Kumar Bachchan, Shailendra Kumar, and others, alongside a gathering of senior artists, art critics, and cultural figures.
