Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced a new system to issue death certificates directly from cremation ghats, ensuring that families no longer need to visit the municipal office. Under this initiative, death certificates will be issued within 24 to 48 hours after the cremation.
To facilitate this process, data entry operators will be stationed at all major cremation ghats, including Digha, Bans Ghat, Gulbi Ghat, and Khajekala Ghat. They will register the details of the deceased based on information provided by the family. After registration, verification will be completed within 24 to 48 hours.
As per the guidelines, the operator will upload the death details to the official website based on the place of death. The concerned sub-registrar will verify and issue the death certificate within 24 hours. The certificate will then be uploaded to the Patna Municipal Corporation portal, and the family will receive an SMS with a link to download it. Additionally, a hard copy will be provided within 48 hours.
In case the death occurs outside the Patna Municipal Corporation limits, the revenue officer of the respective zone will issue a burning certificate on the same day using the municipal portal. The entire process must be completed within 48 hours, and zonal executive officers will oversee the implementation. Any negligence or irregularity by data entry operators or sub-registrars will result in strict disciplinary action.
This initiative aims to streamline the death certificate issuance process, ensuring faster and more efficient services for grieving families across all registered cremation ghats in Patna.
