Demands to Honor Sushil Kumar Modi with Bharat Ratna Raised in Patna
Patna: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sushil Kumar Modi, a grand program has been scheduled at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall on January 5, 2025. The event will witness the presence of the Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs, MPs, and prominent personalities from various fields, including Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardees. Party officials, workers, and people associated with Modi from across Bihar will also attend.
Sanjay Gupta, president of the Sushil Kumar Modi Smriti Shodh Sansthan, has urged the government to honor the late leader with the Bharat Ratna, rename Moinul Haq Stadium as Sushil Modi Stadium, and establish a life-size statue in central Patna. He also called for a memorial and research institute in Modi’s name, emphasizing his lifelong dedication to public service and integrity.
Gupta praised Modi’s contributions to Bihar’s politics, highlighting his scholarship, humility, and hard work. He described Modi as a leader who set high standards of cleanliness in public life, dedicating himself to the nation as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh volunteer. Gupta also recalled Modi’s entry into electoral politics in 1990, where he defeated Congress MLA Aqeel Haider to represent Patna Central, his lifelong Karmkshetra.
The demands will be reiterated during the birth anniversary celebrations, with strong calls for recognizing Modi’s legacy through these initiatives. The institute’s members, including Deepak Kumar Agrawal, T.N. Singh, and Neeraj Patel, were present at the press conference to support the proposals.
