The total number of dengue cases in the state has now reached 4,416, with 2,267 cases recorded in Patna alone. The death toll from the mosquito-borne illness has also been alarming, with five deaths in Patna and 12 reported across Bihar.
In Patna, dengue cases have been concentrated in several areas:
– Pataliputra: 27 cases

Rural areas have also reported dengue infections, with the following cases:

Alongside dengue, cases of chikungunya are also increasing, with 84 people affected by the disease so far. Both dengue and chikungunya are transmitted by the bite of the same Aedes mosquito.
Senior physician at PMCH, Dr. BK Chaudhary, emphasized the need for continued caution to prevent the spread of dengue. He advised people to avoid mosquito bites, particularly in the early morning and late evening when the Aedes mosquito is most active.
The government has set up free testing facilities in all public hospitals to help control the outbreak. Dr. Chaudhary noted that most dengue patients recover at home without the need for hospitalization. However, people are encouraged to take preventive steps such as:
– Avoiding water stagnation around homes
– Wearing full-sleeved clothes
– Using mosquito repellents
– Staying inside mosquito nets
– Drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated
With the dengue outbreak continuing to spread, citizens are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the disease.
