Patna: On Thursday, Patna reported 61 new dengue cases and 10 chikungunya cases, raising concerns among health officials and residents alike. To date, a total of 2,184 individuals have been affected by dengue and 98 by chikungunya in the state, with 128 cases reported across Bihar. The cumulative number of dengue patients in the state has now reached 4,416, emphasizing the urgent need for preventive measures.
Five individuals have succumbed to dengue in Patna. Among the new dengue cases identified on Thursday, 18 were from Pataliputra, 9 from Bankipur, 6 from Azimabad, 10 from Kankarbagh, and 7 from Nutan Rajdhani. In rural areas, one patient was found in Dhanrua, two in Fatuha, two in Khusrupur, one in Phulwari, and one in Sampatchak.
Health officials are stressing the importance of protecting oneself from dengue-carrying mosquitoes, primarily the Aedes species responsible for both diseases. Residents are urged to ensure that water does not accumulate around their homes and to clean any stagnant water sources promptly. Anyone experiencing symptoms associated with dengue or chikungunya is advised to seek medical testing immediately to facilitate early diagnosis and treatment.
