Dense Fog Alert for 23 Districts in Bihar Amid Cold Wave Conditions

Reflective Tape Campaign Launched to Reduce Road Accidents in Fog

Patna: The chill in Bihar is set to deepen as strong westerly winds sweep across the state. The Meteorological Center has forecast a significant drop in the minimum temperature, with an expected fall of up to three degrees Celsius over the next three to four days. This shift is likely to intensify the cold wave already gripping the region.

The cold weather is attributed to the western disturbance impacting North West India, including Bihar, since November 14. Alongside plummeting temperatures, dense fog has enveloped several districts during morning and evening hours, reducing visibility and disrupting daily life. The Meteorological Center has issued an alert for dense fog in 23 districts of the state on Sunday, cautioning residents to take necessary precautions.

A meteorologist from the Patna Meteorological Center stated, “The cold has begun in Bihar, and as the intensity of westerly winds increases, the temperature will drop further, intensifying the chill.”

Meanwhile, air quality remains a pressing concern, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded above 150 in 11 districts, indicating unhealthy levels. Hajipur was identified as the most polluted district, with an AQI of 336, marking severely poor air quality.

On Saturday, Banka experienced the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 12.9 degrees Celsius, while Supaul recorded the highest temperature at 31 degrees Celsius. Â
