Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary Launches Bihar’s Jal Sanchay-Jan Bhaagidari Campaign to Address Floods and Drought

Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has inaugurated the Jal Sanchay-Jan Bhaagidari campaign in Bihar, a significant initiative aimed at conserving water and addressing the dual challenges of floods and drought. At the launch, Choudhary emphasized the campaign’s importance in laying a strong foundation for sustainable water conservation for current and future generations.

Choudhary acknowledged the proactive efforts of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar through the Jal Jeevan Hariyali Yojana, which focuses on protecting water and traditional water sources. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for water conservation, describing it as vital for safeguarding humanity’s future.

Speaking at a key meeting held at his official residence, Choudhary said the campaign aims to not only address the water crisis but also mitigate the impact of frequent flooding in several districts of the state. He appealed to citizens across all sections of society to actively participate in the initiative, which he described as a “historic step toward sustainable water management.”

The campaign’s first phase focuses on the implementation of rainwater harvesting systems in 10 districts, including Patna, Buxar, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Madhubani, Rohtas, Banka, Munger, Bhojpur, and Tarapur. According to Choudhary, this system will conserve rainwater and significantly alleviate issues of water scarcity and flood management.

The event also saw the establishment of a rainwater harvesting system, made possible with support from the Surat-based Saket Group. Choudhary highlighted the campaign’s alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “village water in the village and farm water in the farm.”

Sanwarprasad Budhia of Saket Group Surat announced plans to expand the initiative across Bihar by involving migrant workers, local communities, and administrative bodies. “This campaign represents a collaborative effort to secure the future of Bihar’s water resources,” Budhia said.

The inaugural meeting of the campaign was attended by notable figures, including Sanwarprasad Budhia, Dungar Singh Sodha, Vinod Pandey, Anoop Garg, and Amit Singh, among others, alongside Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Together, they pledged to revolutionize Bihar’s approach to water conservation, ensuring long-term sustainability for the state.
