Gaya: The Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya is in full swing, with devotees from across the country arriving to offer Pind Daan to their ancestors. The event, which began on September 17 and will continue until October 2nd, has drawn large crowds daily. On Sunday, a significant number of pilgrims gathered at the Bhim Gaya, Go Prachar, and Gadalol Pind Vedis to perform rituals, as these three altars hold special importance on Dwadashi Tithi.
Pind Daanis are focused on seeking moksha for their ancestors, offering prayers and performing rituals in hopes of liberating their forebears from the cycle of birth and death. The Vishnupad temple, particularly the feet of Narayan in its sanctum sanctorum, attracts many devotees, as it is believed that after completing the Pind Daan, a visit to the temple is spiritually rewarding.
The fair continues to witness a strong turnout as pilgrims follow the ancient traditions of Pind Daan at various sacred altars, each of which holds distinct significance according to the scriptures.
