Dial 112 Female Constable Found Dead in Patna, Husband Detained

Patna police probe suspicious death of Dial 112 female constable Kanak Priya; husband detained as strangulation suspected.

Patna: A female constable attached to the Dial 112 emergency response unit was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her rented accommodation in Yadav Chak village, under the Parsa Bazar police station area in Patna, on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kanak Priya. Kanak Priya lived with her husband, Prabhat Ranjan, who is also a constable in the Bihar Police.

Upon receiving the report, police rushed to the scene. Villagers had already gathered in large numbers, drawn by the unfolding tragedy. Initial observations by the police revealed deep marks on Kanak Priya’s neck, leading to strong suspicions of strangulation. While the police are not ruling out the possibility of suicide, the evidence points towards foul play.

Sources indicate that a dispute had occurred between Kanak Priya and Prabhat Ranjan. Following the incident, Prabhat Ranjan claimed his wife had committed suicide. However, the circumstances at the scene contradicted his assertion, leading police to take him into custody for questioning.

Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from the area and analyzing the call detail records of both the deceased and her husband. No suicide note has been recovered from the house, and the exact time and manner of the incident remain unclear. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police are awaiting the arrival of Kanak Priya’s family members in Patna to record their statements, which are expected to provide crucial leads in the investigation.
