Divisional Parliamentary Committee Meeting in Samastipur Discusses Rail Development and Passenger Facilities
Patna: The ‘Divisional Parliamentary Committee’ meeting of Samastipur Division of East Central Railways (ECR) was convened at the Manthan meeting room of the Samastipur Divisional Railway Manager’s office on Wednesday. Distinguished Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Samastipur division jurisdiction actively participated in the session, which was presided over by the esteemed MP of Shivhar, Rama Devi. The gathering saw the presentation of valuable suggestions by all MPs addressing issues concerning public interest and the holistic development of railways.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including General Manager of ECR, Anil Kumar Khandelwal, Divisional Railway Manager of Samastipur Division, Vinay Srivastava, and representatives from both headquarters and the division.
Among the prominent attendees were Honorable MPs from various constituencies, including Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal of West Champaran, Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser of Khagaria, Ajay Nishad of Muzaffarpur, Sunil Kumar of Valmikinagar, Sunil Kumar Pintu of Sitamarhi, Santosh Kumar of Purnia, Pradeep Kumar Singh of Araria, Rampreet Mandal of Jhanjharpur, Dileshwar Kamait of Supaul, Gopal Ji Thakur of Darbhanga, Ashok Kumar Yadav of Madhubani, Dinesh Chandra Yadav of Madhepura, Veena Devi of Vaishali, and Ramnath Thakur, Rajya Sabha MP.
Additionally, representatives of various government officials were present, including Rajeev Verma representing Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh, Tarun Kumar representing Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, Kundan Kanu representing MP Rakesh Sinha, MP Dr. Vishnudev Singh Yadav, Fayyaz Ahmed, and Vinay Kumar Choudhary representing MP of Samastipur, Prince Raj.
The meeting delved into discussions on vital suggestions from the MPs regarding the expansion and fortification of rail development and passenger facilities. Emphasis was laid on prioritizing infrastructure development projects, and future plans were also outlined during the deliberations.
General Manager Khandelwal extended a warm welcome to the distinguished MPs and their representatives at the outset of the meeting. In his address, he acknowledged the significant steps taken by Samastipur Division to enhance passenger convenience, including the operation of special trains during festivals and peak seasons. The introduction of the ‘Amrit Bharat Express’ train between Darbhanga and Anand Vihar was highlighted, along with the operation of 214 pairs of mail/express and 100 pairs of passenger trains under Samastipur division.
In an effort to make unreserved tickets easily accessible, automatic ticket vending machines have been installed at nine major stations, and ‘One Station One Product’ stalls have been established at 16 major stations within the division. The upcoming launch of ‘Rail Coach Restaurants’ at Samastipur, Bettiah, and Narkatiaganj station premises was also announced, aiming to provide passengers and the public with an enhanced dining experience.
Expressing gratitude for the invaluable suggestions received from the Honorable MPs, Khandelwal emphasized the crucial role these inputs would play in shaping the future outline of railway development works.
