DM and SSP Oversee Final Preparations for Chhath Puja in Patna, Ensuring Safety and Facilities at 550 Ghats
Patna: District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra inspected several Chhath ghats and ponds in Patna today to assess preparations for Chhath Puja. The officers visited key sites, including Kachhi Talab in Gardanibagh, Manikchand Talab in Anisabad, BSAP-5 pond, and Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park’s pond, providing instructions to officials for additional safety and convenience measures.
With approximately 550 ghats along the Ganga and other local water bodies used for Chhath celebrations, as well as various parks and private locations, authorities have expanded facilities across Patna. A total of 102 ghats along the Ganga and over 100 additional sites, including parks and ponds within the Patna Municipal Corporation, have been equipped to accommodate devotees. Arrangements cover major public gathering areas, ensuring safety and accessibility for the thousands expected to observe the festival.
In line with guidelines, the administration has installed barricades, control rooms, changing rooms, lighting, and public address systems at major ghats. Cleanliness, drinking water, and toilet facilities are also in place, meeting crowd management and disaster management standards. To address potential emergencies, the administration has deployed SDRF teams, divers familiar with local conditions, trained boatmen, and civil defense volunteers. Medical camps will be stationed at key locations to provide on-site healthcare if required.
Crowd management will be bolstered through magistrates and police officers, while surveillance will be enhanced with CCTV, drone monitoring, and video recording. Special arrangements have been made for families observing Chhath from home or apartment terraces; Patna Municipal Corporation will deliver holy Gangajal via tankers across wards.
DM Singh and SSP Mishra emphasized that all facilities have been set up to ensure a safe and smooth Chhath Puja, with continuous coordination between officials and Chhath Puja committees.
