Dr. Sunil Kumar Takes Charge as Bihar Environment Minister, Pledges ‘Green Bihar’

Patna: Dr. Sunil Kumar, the newly appointed Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bihar, assumed office today at the departmental headquarters in the state secretariat. On this occasion, he met with departmental officials and employees and shared his priorities.
Speaking to reporters after taking charge, Dr. Sunil expressed gratitude to the top leadership of the BJP and party’s state leaders for entrusting him with the responsibility of this important department. He stated that environmental conservation, expansion of forest areas, and promotion of tourism would be among his priorities.
“I am already familiar with this department, as I have been an MLA from Nalanda headquarters, which also includes Rajgir, a major historical and tourist center in Bihar. There are immense possibilities for forest and environmental conservation here. If we work with the right intention and dedication, we can soon achieve the goal of ‘Green Bihar’,” Dr. Sunil said.
He claimed that he would first conduct a departmental review and then begin work on a concrete action plan. He emphasized making special efforts to increase forest cover, control pollution, and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Present at the occasion were Bandana Preyashi, Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Prabhat Kumar Gupta, PCCF (HoFF), Kanwal Tanuj, Special Secretary, Arvinder Singh, CWLW, along with other senior officials and staff members of the department.
Dr. Sunil, a four-time MLA from Biharsharif, brings a diverse background to his new role. A former doctor, he has also been involved in the Bhojpuri film industry as a producer. His appointment comes as part of the recent cabinet expansion in Bihar, where seven ministers from the BJP quota took oath.
