East Central Railway Honours Employees With Vishisht Rail Seva Award

Hajipur: The East Central Railway (ECR) recognised outstanding contributions by its officers and employees during a function at the Vaishali Railway Auditorium in Hajipur. The event, held to honour achievements in the financial year 2023-24, saw 92 employees receive the Vishisht Rail Seva Award for exemplary service.
The ceremony commenced with a lamp-lighting ritual, led by General Manager Chhatrasal Singh, alongside Sunita Singh, president of the East Central Railway Women Welfare Organization, and other dignitaries. Senior officials, including Additional General Manager Amarendra Kumar, Principal Chief Personnel Officer B.K. Singh, and divisional railway managers from headquarters and all five divisions, were also in attendance.
Beyond individual awards, efficiency shields were presented to various divisions. The General Manager Efficiency Shield for 2023-24 was awarded to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Division, with Dhanbad Division securing the Runners-Up Cup. In the cleanliness category, Rajendranagar, Raxaul, and Vaishali stations were recognised with the Swachhata Shield for large, medium, and small stations, respectively. The Rail Madad Shield, for excellence in public grievance redressal, and the Public Relations Shield, for effective media coordination, were both awarded to Samastipur Division.
ECR Reports Record Revenue Growth
During the event, General Manager Chhatrasal Singh highlighted East Central Railway’s strong performance, citing record revenue figures and operational milestones. By December 2024, the zone reported its highest-ever revenue, with total earnings reaching Rs 23,668 crore, marking a 4.79% increase from the previous year. Freight loading surpassed 149 million tonnes, showing a 2.61% rise, while revenue from coaching services climbed to Rs 247 crore. Additionally, scrap sales brought in Rs 258 crore, reflecting 22% growth.
Singh also noted progress under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, with redevelopment work underway for 97 stations across East Central Railway. To enhance passenger convenience, 17 pairs of new trains were introduced during the financial year.
The function saw the presence of senior divisional railway managers, railway union representatives, and members of the Women Welfare Organization, alongside railway employees and their families.
