East Central Railway Reports Record Revenue, Tops Passenger Growth Among Regional Railways

Hajipur: The East Central Railway (ECR) has reported its highest-ever revenue, with earnings reaching Rs 31,575 crore in the financial year 2024-25, making it the top regional railway in terms of revenue generation. The figures were reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by General Manager Chhatrasal Singh at the ECR headquarters in Hajipur.
Freight revenue contributed Rs 26,354 crore, ranking ECR as the second-highest regional railway in freight earnings. Meanwhile, passenger revenue surged to Rs 4,602 crore, reflecting a 12.56% increase from the previous year’s Rs 4,088 crore. This growth placed ECR as the leading regional railway in passenger revenue expansion.
ECR also witnessed a significant rise in operations, transporting 202.63 million tonnes of freight, securing its place among the top four regional railways in freight movement. Additionally, over 24 crore passengers traveled via ECR trains, marking a 14.68% increase from the previous year.
During the review meeting, Singh commended railway officials and staff for their performance and outlined key priorities, including train punctuality, infrastructure development, the Amrit Bharat station project, freight expansion, revenue enhancement, cleanliness, and employee welfare. The meeting was attended by department heads and divisional railway managers from all five divisions via video conferencing.
