Patna: The ECO Task Force and Srishti Environment Club of Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University, organized an ‘ECO Tour’ to Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park. The initiative, part of the ‘Season of Creation’ month, aimed to promote environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation while fostering an appreciation for nature.
Seventy-five active members participated in the tour, exploring various areas of the botanical park, including the Fern Park, Medicinal Garden, and Cactus Park. During the tour, students learned about numerous tree species such as Kusum, Palash, Ashoka, and Tendu, deepening their understanding of the region’s biodiversity.
Participants enjoyed an immersive experience in the park, observing native and exotic species like Bengal tigers, white tigers, leopards, giraffes, and a variety of birds and plants. Students were also encouraged to document the wild species they encountered, enhancing their environmental knowledge. A 3D wildlife movie screening added an educational yet entertaining element to the visit.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Secretary of the ECO Task Force and Assistant Professor in the Zoology Department. Dr. Awadhesh Kumar, Assistant Professor of Geography, and Sister M. Luveena A.C. from the Zoology Department also contributed to the successful execution of the event.
