Patna: A SpiceJet flight from Guwahati to Patna made an emergency landing at Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal on Thursday after a technical issue was suspected in the aircraft’s wings. The flight, SG-3445, landed safely at 1.30 pm, approximately 30 minutes after takeoff from Guwahati.

Following the incident, the return flight from Patna to Guwahati, scheduled for 1.40 pm, was cancelled as the aircraft did not arrive at Patna Airport for over three hours. This led to protests from passengers, who were later pacified by airline staff.

The flight, originally set to depart from Guwahati at 11.10 am, took off two hours late at 1 pm. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot detected a malfunction in the wings and alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC), which instructed the aircraft to land at the nearest airport, Bagdogra.

A total of 86 people, including crew members, were on board at the time of the emergency landing. All passengers were accommodated in a hotel near Bagdogra Airport and will be flown to their destination once the aircraft is repaired.

Meanwhile, at Patna Airport, 89 passengers were awaiting the return flight to Guwahati. Of these, 54 opted for a refund, while 35, who had traveled from the Maha Kumbh, were accommodated in a hotel.
