Encounter in Muzaffarpur: Police Foil Bank Robbery Attempt, Two Criminals Shot
Muzaffarpur: An encounter occurred between police and criminals in the Banghara area of Sivaipatti just before a planned bank robbery. Two criminals, Sundaram and Deepu, were shot in the leg during the shootout. The incident took place near the Indian Bank, where the criminals were plotting a heist.
According to police, the criminals started firing as soon as they saw the approaching officers. The police retaliated, resulting in injuries to Sundaram and Deepu. Both were subsequently arrested and rushed to SKMCH for treatment. Senior police officials, including SSP Rakesh Kumar and City SP Awadhesh Dixit, have arrived at the hospital to oversee the situation.
Villagers reported seeing the criminals loitering around the bank since morning, prompting them to alert the police. Upon arrival, the officers were met with gunfire from the criminals. In the ensuing exchange, Sundaram was hit twice in the left leg, while Deepu was struck once in the right leg.
SSP Rakesh Kumar confirmed that the police had received secret information about the planned robbery. Upon confronting the criminals, the officers were fired upon, with one bullet hitting a police vehicle. Despite warnings to surrender, the criminals continued to shoot, forcing the police to respond with gunfire. Sundaram and Deepu were injured and taken into custody.
Sundaram, a notorious criminal, has 12 cases registered against him and has been involved in criminal activities in other states as well.
