Patna: A multi-agency encroachment removal campaign, directed by Commissioner Mayank Warvade, continued for the third consecutive day in Patna city. The initiative, focused on systematic traffic management and ensuring public convenience, is being actively supervised by the Commissioner, with regular reviews to maintain its momentum.
The campaign involved teams from multiple departments, including the municipal corporation, traffic police, transport, revenue, health, and fire services, among others. On Wednesday, operations targeted areas such as Chirayatand Bridge to Buddha Park, Saguna Mor to Mainpura Kali Mandir, and Gyan Bhawan to Biscoman Bhawan. Officials reported the removal of illegal structures, kiosks, banners, and hoardings, with fines totalling ₹86,500 collected across various zones.
In addition to clearing encroachments, a vehicle-checking drive was conducted to support smoother traffic flow. Follow-up teams have been deployed to prevent re-encroachment, with strict instructions to register FIRs against repeat offenders. Notices were issued to violators, and confiscations included handcarts, iron counters, and temporary structures.
A five-member monitoring cell has been established under District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh to oversee the campaign’s effectiveness. The cell includes representatives from law enforcement, traffic management, and the municipal corporation. The Commissioner emphasised a zero-tolerance policy for traffic obstructions and reiterated the administration’s commitment to systematic traffic management and strict enforcement of regulations.
The campaign reflects the administration’s proactive measures to enhance urban mobility and public safety, with continued efforts planned to ensure the success and sustainability of the initiative.
