Environment Minister Inaugurates Departmental Exhibition at Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Mela 2024

Patna: The Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change inaugurated its exhibition at the Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Mela 2024 on November 25. The event, held at 5 PM, was led by Environment Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, with the Regional Chief Conservator of Forests, Muzaffarpur, Dr. K. Ganesh Kumar, welcoming dignitaries.
The Minister unveiled a model showcasing the department’s eco-tourism initiatives, highlighting achievements in locations like Tutla Bhavani Temple, Rohtasgarh Fort, Rajgir Zoo Safari, Eco Park Patna, Mandar Mountain, Bhim Dam, Vikramshila Ganges Dolphin Sanctuary, and Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Additionally, contributions from the Eco Development Committee FDA of Bihar, the Bihar State Pollution Control Board, and the Bihar State Biodiversity Board were displayed.
During the event, the Minister interacted with beneficiary farmers and members of Jeevika groups under the Agro Forestry Scheme. Farmers shared their success stories, noting increased income from agroforestry, while Jeevika members praised the department’s nursery and plantation projects.
Senior officials, including Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P.K. Gupta, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Bharat Jyoti, and Bihar State Biodiversity Board Chairman Arvinder Singh, attended the exhibition alongside other departmental officers. The program celebrated the department’s contributions to ecotourism, conservation, and sustainable development in Bihar.
