Patna: The first phase of voting for the Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) elections in Bihar concluded with a voter turnout of 40.52% recorded by 1 PM. Elections were conducted for 1,608 PACS in this phase, with polling stations witnessing significant footfall until voting closed at 4:40 PM.
In Motihari, a violent incident unfolded when police were attacked while attempting to stop a rally connected to the PACS elections in Balua Guabari under the Kundwa Chainpur police station area. Officers fled the scene to save their lives. Voting for Balua Guabari PACS is scheduled for November 27, during the second phase of elections.
Another clash occurred in Sagara, Buxar, between supporters of candidate Naveen Rai and those of incumbent PACS president Ashish Rai. The confrontation began after Ashish Rai set up a polling booth in his house, a move opposed by Naveen’s supporters. Following the scuffle, Naveen’s camp blocked the Mohania-Buxar main road, but police intervened to restore order.
