Environment Minister Prem Kumar Inspects Winter Care Measures at Patna Zoo
Patna: Environment Minister Dr Prem Kumar visited the Patna Zoo today to inspect measures taken to protect wildlife from the cold. The Minister inspected enclosures for Hoolock Gibbons, Tigers, birds, Chital, Zebras, Giraffes, Elephants, and small cats, and issued instructions to zoo officials.
The Director of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park informed the Minister about the precautionary measures implemented for winter, including insulating enclosures with straw and bamboo, providing wooden platforms in night houses, installing oil heaters, and providing blankets and enriched diets to animals.
These measures include insulating animal enclosures with straw and bamboo, providing wooden platforms in night houses, installing oil heaters, providing blankets to primates and laying blankets in reptile enclosures, enhancing the diet of carnivores and providing specialized care for herbivores, including elephants, with massages and enriched diets, and implementing measures to protect birds from cold, such as covering enclosures with plastic sheets.
The Minister directed the Zoo Director to prioritize the well-being of animals and ensure the effective implementation of all winter care measures.
