Farmer Shot by Miscreants While Sleeping Outside His Home
Begusarai: In a late-night incident in Cheria Variyarpur village, Begusarai, three to four unidentified miscreants opened fire on a 60-year-old farmer, Ramesh Singh, as he slept outside his house. A bullet struck his thigh, and he was immediately rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors confirmed that his condition is stable and out of danger.
The attack occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Ramesh Singh initially mistook the sound of the gunshot for a firecracker from a nearby wedding. It was only after feeling a sharp pain that he realised he had been shot. Despite the late hour and dense fog, locals rushed to the scene upon hearing his cries, but the miscreants had already fled.
Singh claimed to have no known disputes with anyone and was unable to identify the attackers due to poor visibility. He described the assailants as a group of three to four individuals who fired from the road.
Police have launched an investigation based on Singh’s statement. SHO Subodh Kumar confirmed that the injury was minor and assured that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. The motive for the attack remains unclear.
