Fighting Cancer with Tech: Experts Highlight Early Detection at Patna Seminar

Patna: A seminar titled “Cancer – Treatment with Technology: Challenges and Possibilities” was organized in Patna under the joint aegis of Rotary Patna Midtown and Savera Cancer Hospital. The event focused on modern screening and treatment techniques for cancer. Keynote speaker Dr. Geeta Patel, great-granddaughter of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and an alumnus of the University of London, highlighted new methods for early cancer detection. She emphasized that advanced screening kits can help in timely diagnosis, improving the chances of effective treatment. Dr. Patel has been engaged in cancer research for years and has made significant contributions to the field.

Savera Cancer Hospital has been actively working to raise awareness about cancer by organizing five to seven screening camps each month. So far, 22 camps have been conducted, examining over 2,500 people. Among them, around 70 to 75 individuals were found to have cancer and were referred for further tests. Dr. Amrita Rakesh from Savera Cancer Hospital stated that early detection plays a crucial role in making cancer treatment more effective and preventing severe conditions.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and chief guest Awadhesh Narayan Singh attended the seminar and stressed the importance of spreading cancer awareness. They urged the government and society to work together to enhance cancer screening facilities, particularly in rural areas. They also highlighted the need to educate students about cancer prevention and early detection.

Surgical oncologist Dr. VP Singh, president of Rotary Patna Midtown, spoke about the necessity of regular screenings to detect cancer in its initial stages. He emphasized that Rotary Patna Midtown is continuously taking initiatives to promote cancer awareness and encourage early diagnosis. The seminar brought together medical professionals and public representatives to discuss strategies for improving cancer care in Bihar.
