Patna: A major fire broke out early Sunday morning at the LIC building on Exhibition Road in Patna, severely damaging the server room located on the second floor. Officials said the fire, which started around 5am due to a suspected short circuit, was brought under control after a two-hour operation involving 17 fire tenders.
Thick smoke was first seen emerging from the server room, triggering panic among the few early occupants and nearby residents. Hydraulic platforms and ladders were used to access the affected floor, with fire personnel facing significant difficulty in containing the blaze.
“There was no loss of life, but the server room has been extensively damaged,” said District Fire Officer Manoj Nat, who led the operation along with Sub-Divisional Fire Officer Ajit Kumar. The room housed computers and other electronic equipment critical to LIC’s operations.
The alert was raised by the Loddipur Fire Office, which received the information from the District Control Room. Firefighters from across the area were quickly deployed to the scene.
Authorities confirmed that while the blaze was intense, it was confined to the second floor and did not spread further. An assessment of the damage is underway, and officials are investigating the extent of the losses.
