Patna: The steady rise in Covid-19 cases continues in Bihar’s capital, with five new infections reported in Patna on Wednesday, bringing the district’s total case count to 67. Health authorities have urged residents to remain cautious but avoid panic, as the majority of cases remain mild and are being treated at home.

According to data shared by the Civil Surgeon’s Office, two of the latest cases were confirmed at the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), including a health worker from its Microbiology Department. The others were reported from Kankarbagh, Kidwaipuri, Rajabazar, and Patna City.

Of the total 67 reported cases, 30 patients have recovered, leaving 37 active cases currently under home isolation. Officials confirmed that no hospitalisations have been required so far.

Patna has recorded a daily trickle of infections over the past week, with more than half a dozen cases detected on some days. While the overall number remains relatively low, the district health department is closely monitoring the situation to prevent further spread.

“We are advising people to stay vigilant and follow Covid-appropriate behaviour, especially in crowded areas,” a senior health official said. “There is no need to panic, but early testing and isolation remain crucial.”

The health department has not issued any containment measures yet but is continuing surveillance and contact tracing in affected localities.
