Folk Legend Sharda Sinha to Be Laid to Rest with State Honours in Patna, Cremation at Gulabi Ghat
Patna: The last rites of Sharda Sinha, renowned as the ‘Bihar Swar Kokila,’ will take place in Patna on Thursday following her death on Tuesday night at the age of 72. Sinha, a celebrated folk singer beloved across Bihar and beyond, passed away at Delhi AIIMS, where she had been receiving treatment.
The singer breathed her last at 9:20 pm on Tuesday. According to Delhi AIIMS, Sinha succumbed to refractory shock caused by septicemia, a serious condition in which bacteria infects the bloodstream, leading to severe complications.
Her body is expected to arrive in Patna by air ambulance around 12:00 noon and will be taken to her residence in Rajendra Nagar, where people can pay their respect to her mortal remains later in the day. The cremation is likely to be held at Gulabi Ghat on Thursday.
Sinha’s passing has cast a shadow over Bihar, with fans and admirers mourning the loss of a voice that embodied the cultural heritage of the state, especially with her Chhath songs.
