Patna: Authorities in Patna have vacated the official residence of former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLC Sunil Singh, citing his ineligibility to occupy the government bungalow. The eviction at 4/20 Legislators Bungalow in Gardanibagh was carried out in the presence of a magistrate and district administration police. Singh, however, has accused the government of acting out of political malice.
Singh Alleges Targeted Action
Reacting to the eviction, Singh said, “I will not plead or call them my mother and father for vacating my house. This was done with a sense of vengeance. No one was home when the bungalow was vacated—my belongings were thrown outside.” He claimed he was informed about the eviction only after it had taken place.
The former legislator further alleged that his criticism of the government in the Legislative Council led to the action. “I used to expose their failures, and this is the result. The court had issued a stay order until yesterday, yet they moved in on Sunday to evict me,” he said. He also questioned why members of the ruling party who no longer hold any official positions continue to occupy government residences.
Government’s Justification and Singh’s Counterclaims
The concerned department maintains that Singh was no longer entitled to the ministerial bungalow as he is no longer an MLC. However, Singh insisted that selective action was being taken. “There are at least 25 people linked to the ruling party who have been allotted ministerial bungalows despite holding no position. They have secured these accommodations through sycophancy,” he alleged.
Mocking the government’s move, he added, “All my belongings were thrown outside on the lawn. At least I should be grateful that they weren’t dumped in Sangeeta Singh’s house—she was with us but later switched sides.”
Singh has vowed not to remain silent over the eviction, calling the action by the building construction department “unjust and politically motivated.”
