Patna: Rumours are swirling over who the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will choose as the next Chief Minister of Delhi, with Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma emerging as a frontrunner after his victory over Arvind Kejriwal. Amid the speculation, Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav has weighed in, expressing his support for BJP MP and fellow Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tiwari.
Khesari Lal Yadav Backs Tiwari for CM
Speaking to journalists, Khesari Lal Yadav said he would be delighted if Tiwari were chosen for the role. “If Manoj Bhaiya becomes the Chief Minister of Delhi, it would be a moment of great pride for all Biharis. If a Bhojpuri singer takes on this responsibility, we will be even happier,” he said.
In a lighthearted remark, Khesari added that such a development would boost the status of the Bhojpuri language. “This will increase the value of Bhojpuri, and maybe one day, we too can dream of becoming CM,” he quipped. “Manoj Bhaiya has always paved the way for us, and if an artist becomes CM, the entire artist community will celebrate.”
Delhi Awaits BJP’s Decision
According to BJP leaders, the swearing-in ceremony for Delhi’s new Chief Minister will be held after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his foreign tour. PM Modi is set to visit the United States from February 12 to 13, where he will meet US President Donald Trump.
In the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP secured a decisive victory, winning 48 out of 70 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to secure 22 seats, while the Congress failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive time.
