Four-lane Road from Bhadra Ghat to Didarganj to Ease Traffic, Ready in 15 Months

Patna : A new four-lane road stretching eight kilometers from Bhadra Ghat to Didarganj, running parallel to JP Ganga Path, is expected to be ready within 15 months, providing much-needed relief to commuters and reducing congestion in Patna. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) has issued a tender for the project, with contractors invited to submit applications online by April 15. The technical bids will be opened on April 17.
The project is set to offer a crucial alternative route for residents of Patna City, particularly benefiting those traveling to Takht Shri Harimandirji, Patna Sahib, a prominent pilgrimage site.
Boost for Marufganj Mandi
The new road is expected to significantly ease the movement of goods carriers heading to Marufganj Mandi, one of the city’s busiest markets. At present, goods vehicles entering the Mandi have to navigate through congested city roads, often causing traffic jams and delays. Once the new route is operational, these vehicles will be able to bypass the city altogether, using the four-lane road to reach their destination more efficiently.
Reduced Dependence on Ashoka Rajpath
The opening of the JP Ganga Path section between Bhadra Ghat and Patna Ghat has already alleviated much of the traffic burden in Patna, reducing congestion and travel time. Previously, commuters traveling from Gaighat to Patna City had to endure frequent jams on Ashoka Rajpath. However, with this new route in operation, vehicles can now travel directly from Bhadra Ghat to Patna Ghat, bypassing Ashoka Rajpath altogether.
