From November 2025, Update Aadhaar in Minutes from Home Using OTP, No Need to Visit Centre

From November 2025, name, address, and mobile number in Aadhaar can be updated online through OTP verification, eliminating the need to visit an Aadhaar centre.

Patna: In a major shift set to benefit millions of Aadhaar cardholders, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will roll out a fully digital update process starting November 2025. As per the new system, individuals will be able to update their name, address, mobile number, and date of birth from the comfort of their home using a one-time password (OTP) based verification process.

This update marks a significant departure from the current requirement of physically visiting an Aadhaar centre for any demographic change. Presently, even minor corrections necessitate an in-person visit, causing delays and inconvenience, especially in rural areas with limited access to such centres.
Under the revised rules, identity verification will be done through essential documents such as birth certificate, driving licence, or passport. UIDAI is also reportedly working on launching a new mobile application, tentatively named ‘E-Aadhaar’, which will facilitate the entire update process.
However, biometric updates—including changes to fingerprint or iris scans—will still require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
The new process will officially come into effect in November 2025.
