Ganga Bath Marks Kartik Purnima in Bihar as Dev Deepawali Unfolds
Patna: Patna witnessed a congregation of devotees immersing themselves in the sacred waters of the Ganga on Kartik Purnima, with pilgrims from various districts converging in the capital for this auspicious occasion. The devout, after their ‘purifying’ dip, paid obeisance to holy Ganga river.
This year, Kartik Shukla Purnima aligns with the propitious Shiva and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga of Kritika Nakshatra, amplifying the spiritual significance of the occasion. Kartik Purnima holds a revered status as one of the most sacred months, and the belief in the cleansing power of a Ganga bath on this day to absolve sins is deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric.
The commencement of Kartik Purnima occurred at 3:15 pm on Sunday evening, and the Purnima Tithi is set to persist until 2:30 pm on Monday. In observance of Udayatithi, today witnessed a continuum of religious activities such as Ganga bathing, charitable acts, and other spiritual endeavors.
As the city resonates with the spiritual fervor of Kartik Purnima, authorities stand vigilant, ensuring the safety and seamless execution of the religious festivities.
Simultaneously, the joyous festival of Dev Deepawali graces the day, with a belief deeply rooted in the divine. It is held that on the day of Deepawali, Gods and Goddesses descend upon Kashi to celebrate the festival. A tradition of auspicious significance during this time is the act of donating lamps, considered a symbol of divine illumination.
