Patna: IIT Patna officially inaugurated the prestigious Four-Day International Asia-Pacific Conference on Condensed Matter Physics (AC2MP) 2024 on Sunday, with the aim of advancing research and fostering global collaboration in the field. The conference, which opened with a grand ceremony, is set to bring together top researchers, practitioners, and scholars from across the globe to discuss groundbreaking developments in condensed matter physics.

The event kicked off with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna; Prof. A. Srinivasan, Director of CIT Kokrajhar; Prof. Hiroyuki Nojiri from IIC-IMR, Japan; Prof. S. M. Yusuf; Prof. A. K. Thakur; Dr. Manoranjan Kar; Dr. Raghavan K Easwaran, and other eminent figures from the scientific community. The dignitaries also unveiled the conference souvenir, marking the official start of the event.

Prof. T. N. Singh, patron of the conference, welcomed attendees by highlighting the vital role that physics plays in shaping daily life and the significance of international collaboration in advancing scientific knowledge. Prof. A. Srinivasan, the guest of honor, commended IIT Patna for its growing reputation as a global research hub. Chief Guest Prof. S. M. Yusuf praised the Indian Physics Association’s initiatives, while Prof. Hiroyuki Nojiri expressed optimism that the conference would serve as a catalyst for future international collaborations in condensed matter physics.

The conference has drawn leading researchers from prestigious institutions in India, including IITs, NITs, and IISERs, alongside international participants from countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Delegates will engage in pioneering discussions on a range of cutting-edge topics, including Two-Dimensional (2D) materials, Topological condensed matter & quantum materials, Soft condensed matter, Nano and functional materials, Renewable energy conversion & storage, Magnetism & superconductivity, Electronics, spintronics, optoelectronics, sensors & actuators, Analytical tools in condensed matter, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in physics, and Multiferroics & heterostructures.

Throughout the four-day event, participants will have access to 65 invited talks, 30 contributory oral presentations, and 180 poster sessions. The conference will be organized into three parallel sessions, each focusing on a specific subfield, offering attendees an opportunity for in-depth exploration of emerging areas. Keynote speeches and technical sessions will further stimulate intellectual discourse and promote the exchange of innovative ideas.

The event is supported by the Department of Condensed Matter Physics (DCMP) and the Association of Asia-Pacific Physics Societies (AAPPS), with generous sponsorship from organizations including SERB (ANRF), JEOL, Quantum Design, DRDO, BRNS, NLABO, IOP Publishing, APCTP, IR TECH, Splendid Instruments, ForeVision, and the Indian Physics Association (IPA).
