Governor Announces 12 Lakh Jobs This Year: Tricolour Hoisted at Gandhi Maidan on 76th Republic Day With CM Nitish, Deputy CM in Attendance
Patna: Bihar marked the 76th Republic Day with grand celebrations across the state. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan hoisted the tricolour at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan, where he announced plans to create 12 lakh government jobs and 34 lakh employment opportunities this year. Recounting the government’s achievements, the Governor highlighted the provision of nine lakh jobs in recent years and progress in sectors such as education and women’s empowerment.
The Republic Day celebrations were attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, ministers, and senior officials. Before the main function, the Chief Minister unfurled the national flag at his official residence on 1, Aney Marg.
The event at Gandhi Maidan featured a 20-company parade led by IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh, who saluted the Governor. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was awarded for the best parade performance.
The highlight of the celebrations was a procession of 15 department tableaux, showcasing Bihar’s development initiatives. The Industry Department’s tableau won first place, while the Animal and Fisheries Department and Jeevika jointly secured second place, followed by the Sports Department in third.
The Governor’s address and the vibrant parade underscored Bihar’s commitment to progress and its rich cultural heritage, celebrating the spirit of the Republic.
