Hang Them or Shoot Them”: Bihar Family of Slain IB Officer Demands Justice After Pahalgam Attack

Patna: The family of Manish Ranjan, an Intelligence Bureau officer from Bihar, has called for swift justice following his death in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Ranjan, who was on a family vacation, was among the 26 civilians killed when gunmen opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran valley on Tuesday. His uncle expressed the family’s anguish, stating, “Fansi pe latka dena chahiye aatankwadiyon ko, goli maar dena chahiye. There should be justice.”

Ranjan, a native of Aruhi village in Rohtas district, had been serving in the IB’s Hyderabad office for two years. He is survived by his wife and two children. The attack, which took place in the popular tourist destination known as Kashmir’s ‘Mini Switzerland’, has been widely condemned.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the attack site and met with survivors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to combating terrorism. “Bharat won’t bend to terror,” Shah stated during his visit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cut short his official trip to Saudi Arabia to return to India and address the situation.

The attack has prompted a nationwide outcry, with calls for increased security measures and swift action against those responsible. Investigations are ongoing, and security forces have been given a free hand to bring the perpetrators to justice.
