Heat Wave: Yellow alert extended to 14 districts in Bihar as mercury climbs
Patna: As the calendar flips past the midway point of April, Bihar finds itself in the grip of escalating temperatures. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heatwaves in 14 districts, including Jamui, Nawada, Aurangabad, West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Sheikhpura, Khagaria, Munger, and Banka, extending until April 21.
According to reports from the Patna Meteorological Centre, the arrival of hot, dry westerly winds from Rajasthan has intensified the heat. On Thursday, winds clocked speeds of up to 28 kilometers per hour, exacerbating the already sweltering conditions across the region.
Experts at the Patna Meteorological Centre have noted the formation of a cyclonic circulation over north-west Bihar. This phenomenon has raised hopes for relief, with forecasts suggesting light rainfall in select areas of Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj districts today.
SK Patel, a scientist at the Patna Meteorological Center, highlighted a decrease in humidity levels in the lower atmosphere, indicating a potential shift in weather patterns.
