Hotel Panache in Patna Receives Bomb Threat in Email Allegedly from Yakub Memon; Police Launch Investigation

Patna: A major security alert was triggered at Hotel Panache near Gandhi Maidan after an email, purportedly from Yakub Memon, the 1993 Mumbai blasts convict, claimed that two kilos of TNT explosives were planted inside the premises. The email instructed the removal of all guests and staff before notifying the CBI Special Court. Ellan Christopher, the hotel’s Vice President, was shocked upon reading the message and immediately alerted the Gandhi Maidan police station.

The unexpected threat left the hotel management in shock. Ellan expressed deep concern for the safety of guests and staff, urging authorities to investigate promptly and ensure security. The email also mentioned a terrorist organization and suggested that the explosives were planted by its sleeper cell, further intensifying fears.

Following the alert, Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge Sitaram Prasad confirmed that a case had been registered based on Ellan’s written complaint. The case includes charges under sections related to forgery, misleading information, and violations of the IT Act. Investigators have started analyzing the source of the email and verifying its authenticity.

Police officials stated that TNT (trinitrotoluene) is a highly explosive material commonly used in industries, mining, and oil and gas extraction. While no explosives have been found so far, authorities are treating the threat with utmost seriousness. Security has been tightened at the hotel, and further investigations are underway.
