IIM Bodh Gaya hosts free health camp for housekeeping staff as part of Swachhata Hi Seva campaign

Bodh Gaya: IIM Bodh Gaya recently organised a health camp titled “Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir,” offering essential medical services to its housekeeping staff and faculty members. The event was part of the Government of India’s Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign, which was first launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017 under the Swachh Bharat Mission. This year’s theme, Swabhaav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata, emphasises both personal and social cleanliness.

The camp, held at the institute, provided free medical consultations to a total of 80 participants, including faculty members, non-faculty staff, and their families. A team of 12 medical professionals, including a gynaecologist, general physician, eye specialist, and dentist, offered consultations. Participants underwent routine health checks such as blood pressure, weight, and oxygen level monitoring, as well as laboratory tests for random blood sugar and complete blood count. Some were given ECGs as needed, and medications were distributed at no cost.

Dr Vinita Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, presided over the event, alongside key members of the institute, including Prof Srilekha Mishra, Chairperson of Student Affairs, Prof Suresh K G, Chairperson of the CSR Committee, and Prof Vishal Wankhede, the SHS Nodal Officer.

The initiative, appreciated by many, aimed to raise awareness about government healthcare schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. One housekeeping staff member expressed gratitude, saying, “The doctor was very attentive, he listened to my concern about toothache and gave me medicine.”
