Indian Railways Introduces Special Vande Bharat Express Linking Lucknow and Chhapra

Patna : Indian Railways has announced the launch of a special Vande Bharat Express service between Lucknow and Chhapra, providing relief to thousands of people from Bihar who regularly commute to Uttar Pradesh’s capital. The new service aims to ease travel congestion during festive seasons and wedding periods, when securing train tickets on this route becomes difficult.
According to Northern Railways, the special Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays, from March 27 to April 26. The train, numbered 02269, will depart from Chhapra at 23:00 and arrive in Lucknow at 06:30 the following morning. On its return journey, the train, numbered 02270, will depart from Lucknow Junction at 14:15, reaching Chhapra Junction at 21:30.
27 Rounds in One Month
The train is scheduled to make 27 rounds during this period, enhancing connectivity between the two regions. Passengers will have the option of choosing between two seating categories: chair car and executive chair car. The executive class offers more comfort but comes at a higher price.
Ticket Pricing and Amenities
The fare for the chair car from Lucknow to Chhapra is set at Rs1,780, while a seat in the executive class will cost Rs3,125, according to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. Passengers who do not opt for a meal during ticket booking will now have the option to purchase food on the train, following a recent policy change by the Railway Board.
