Ranchi/Patna: An IndiGo flight en route from Patna to Ranchi was forced to make an emergency landing at Birsa Munda Airport on Monday after colliding with a bird at an altitude of approximately 4,000 feet. All 175 passengers and crew members onboard the Airbus A320 aircraft were reported safe.

According to airport officials, the bird strike occurred about 10 to 12 nautical miles from Ranchi, prompting the pilot to keep the aircraft airborne for around 40 minutes to assess the situation before executing a safe emergency landing.

Bird strikes are a known hazard in aviation, particularly during takeoff and landing phases. Airlines typically conduct thorough inspections following such incidents to ensure the safety of subsequent flights.
