International Flights from Gaya Airport to Halt from April Due to Seasonal Decline in Tourists

Gaya / Patna : International flights from Gaya Airport to Thailand, Vietnam, and Bhutan will be suspended after March 31 due to a significant decline in tourist arrivals during the summer months. However, Myanmar Airways flights to Yangon will continue until April 22, after which they too will be halted.

The annual suspension of international flights from Gaya Airport is a routine occurrence, as the influx of foreign tourists declines significantly during the summer. The tourist season in Bodh Gaya, a prominent pilgrimage site for Buddhists, typically begins in September and lasts until March, with peak activity between November and February. With temperatures soaring beyond 44°C from April to August, the number of foreign visitors dwindles, prompting airlines to halt international operations.

Flights are expected to resume in October when the weather cools, and the tourist season picks up again. Domestic flights operated by IndiGo, connecting Gaya to Delhi and Kolkata, will continue as usual during this period.
