Patna : Jan Suraj has withdrawn its support for Divesh Dinu, the presidential candidate for the Patna University Student Union elections, effectively ending its bid for the post. The party has instead pledged its support to Manoranjan Kumar Raja, the candidate backed by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
Allegations of Unethical Conduct
The decision comes after Divesh Dinu was accused of engaging in unethical practices to influence the election results, allegedly in collaboration with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). According to a statement released by Jan Suraj, Dinu was found involved in activities such as pressuring individuals, engaging in financial transactions, and attempting to buy votes.
A party investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to Dinu’s immediate expulsion and the withdrawal of his nomination.
A Stand Against Unethical Politics
“Politics should be built on honesty, transparency, and the protection of student interests. We cannot support any candidate involved in unethical practices,” the party stated. The move to back the NSUI candidate, Manoranjan Kumar Raja, was described as a stand against the alleged political misconduct of the ABVP and a step to safeguard the democratic rights of students.
Call for Honest Leadership
Jan Suraj has urged students to choose a candidate who upholds integrity and works in the best interests of the student community. “Students must exercise their voting rights wisely and bring forward honest leadership,” the party added.
