JD (U) Questions Jan Suraj’s Funding and Registration: MLC Neeraj Kumar Claims Party Is Funded by Bengaluru-Based Company
Patna: JD (U) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Neeraj Kumar has raised serious allegations against Prashant Kishore’s political outfit, Jan Suraj, questioning its registration process, transparency, and sources of funding. Kumar has demanded answers within 72 hours, accusing the party of lacking transparency in its operations and raising concerns about potential financial irregularities.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at the JD (U) office, Neeraj claimed that Kishore’s party is being funded by the Joy of Giving Global Foundation Trust, an organization based in Bengaluru. According to Neeraj, the foundation donated Rs 48 crore in the financial year 2023-24 to the party, a donation allegedly sourced from 13 companies. Neeraj singled out Ram Setu Infrastructure Company, the largest donor, and pointed out that many of these companies are based in Telangana.
Neeraj further questioned the legitimacy of the donations, raising doubts about their origin. He also pointed to a discrepancy in the timeline of Jan Suraj’s formation, alleging that Prashant Kishore applied for party registration in August 2022, while the party itself was only officially established in August 2023. He specifically questioned the identity and whereabouts of Ajit Singh, the person under whose name the party was registered.
In a poster released by Neeraj during the press conference, the JD (U) MLC accused Kishore of turning politics into business and alleged that Jan Suraj is more focused on personal interests and money rather than public service. The poster read, “How long will the truth remain hidden? Company rule in the guise of democracy is not acceptable!”
Neeraj also highlighted concerns over the use of charity funds in political activity, claiming that supporting a political party through a charity trust could be a violation of the Companies Act. He demanded that Prashant Kishore provide a clear explanation about the relationship between his party and the foundation.
The JD (U) leader warned Kishore that he has 72 hours to respond to these allegations. “If he does not address these questions, we will reveal even bigger issues in the coming days,” Neeraj said, suggesting that further revelations could follow if Kishore fails to clarify the situation.
