Jyoti Singh Eyes Bihar Assembly Polls From Karakat

Patna: Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, has announced her decision to contest the Bihar Assembly Elections in 2025, expressing her intent to fight from a seat in the Karakat parliamentary constituency. This is the same Lok Sabha constituency where her husband unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, adding a new twist to Bihar’s political landscape.

Jyoti has been actively engaging with senior leaders from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], fueling speculation about which party she might join. During Holi celebrations, she confirmed her electoral ambitions, stating that she would soon align with a political party.

To strengthen her public outreach, Jyoti has launched the ‘Jan Sankalp Yatra,’ focusing on connecting with voters and promoting government welfare schemes. “I am receiving immense support from all sections of society. Women and young people are rallying behind me. My message is reaching the people, and I am confident of their trust in this election,” she said. Reports suggest she is likely to join JD(U).

Jyoti’s political plunge comes after her husband’s unsuccessful bid from Karakat in 2024. Pawan Singh had initially received a BJP ticket but later withdrew his nomination amid controversy, before re-entering the race as an independent candidate. His defeat has now left room for his wife to step in and establish her political credentials in the region.
