Khelo India Youth Games 2025: Jharkhand and Rajasthan Lead Cycling Medal Charge as Bihar Clinches Two Silvers

NEW DELHI/PATNA: Track cycling events in Delhi see strong performances from young athletes across India, with host Bihar making its mark. Jharkhand and Rajasthan emerged as frontrunners on the opening day of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 track cycling competitions, held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. While the event was marked by fast-paced races and rising young talent, host state Bihar also made headlines with two silver medals in its tally. The track cycling events, running from 6 to 8 May, form a key part of this year’s games, which are being hosted by Bihar. The atmosphere on the opening day was electric, as athletes from across the country vied for national glory.
In the girls’ team sprint, Jharkhand’s trio of Sabina Kumari, Sanju Kumari and Sindhu Lata Hembram delivered a commanding performance to take gold, showcasing strong coordination and tactical discipline. Bihar’s team of Amrita Kumari, Shalini Kumari and Jaijyotsna earned silver, while Tamil Nadu settled for bronze. Jharkhand continued its winning form in the boys’ team sprint, securing another gold. Manipur claimed silver and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands team took home the bronze. Rajasthan showed its strength in individual events.
A Rajasthan cyclist took top honours in the girls’ scratch race, with Bihar coming second and Maharashtra third. In the boys’ scratch race, it was Maharashtra who led the pack, followed by Rajasthan and Manipur. The one-kilometre time trial (KTT) also went Rajasthan’s way, with Punjab and Telangana completing the podium. In the 500-metre girls’ time trial, Rajasthan added another gold to its haul, ahead of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The event drew attendance from dignitaries including Bihar Labour Commissioner Kumar Digvijay and ARC Shams Afroz, adding weight to the occasion.
