Kicks, Chases and Cheers: Students Dive into Sport and Spirit at Patna Women’s College Camp

A spirited mix of Taekwondo, traditional games and teamwork lit up the latest session of the ongoing summer camp at Patna Women’s College.

Patna: A lively morning session at Patna Women’s College saw students gather in high spirits as Ms Jyoti Kumari, a fitness instructor, kickstarted the day with a round of jogging and warm-up exercises. The energy only ramped up as the group moved into Taekwondo drills, learning basic techniques of the martial art. The focus and enthusiasm among students were palpable, setting the tone for a physically engaging day.

The action didn’t stop there. In the second half of the session, Dr Manjula Sushila, the college’s sports coordinator, introduced the students to Kho-Kho — a fast-paced, traditional Indian tag game. She explained the fundamental rules and the spirit of the game, which blends speed, strategy and teamwork. The students were then split into two teams, and the field buzzed with laughter, chase and competition as they played.

This multi-disciplinary summer camp, designed to expose students to a wide variety of sports and art forms, is proving to be a vibrant platform for learning and bonding. Each day brings a new activity, offering not just physical training but also a taste of India’s rich cultural traditions. Students are stepping out of their comfort zones, exploring new interests and discovering talents they didn’t know they had.

As the day wrapped up, participants took time to reflect on the activities and share their thoughts. Their feedback, filled with excitement and appreciation, reflected the camp’s growing impact. With more sessions ahead, the camp promises to be a memorable chapter of energy, exploration and empowerment for everyone involved.
