Patna Central SP Sweety Sahrawat stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by DSP Krishna Murari Prasad traced the threatening calls to the Phulpur police station area of Azamgarh. Patna Police coordinated with their counterparts in UP and apprehended the accused. After completing the judicial process, the police brought Yadav to Patna by flight for further investigation.

During interrogation, Sanjay Yadav revealed that he had returned to UP from Mumbai three months ago and was constructing his house while facing financial difficulties. Previously employed at a cloth shop in Kalyan, Mumbai, Yadav sought a quick way to make money after watching underworld-related content on his mobile. He obtained the contact numbers of several Bihar ministers via Facebook and began calling them, eventually targeting Minister Santosh Singh.

The accused had issued severe threats, referencing the killing of Baba Siddiqui, and even mentioned the minister’s car number. He warned of dire consequences if Rs. 30 lakh was not transferred. He also sent a payment scanner on WhatsApp, demanding immediate money transfer. Minister Singh reported the calls to the authorities, leading to the formation of the SIT.

The arrest highlights the quick action taken by law enforcement to ensure the safety of public officials and to address criminal attempts to exploit financial vulnerabilities. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details.
