Patna: Air India Express has commenced operations at Patna airport, marking its debut with three new flights to Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The inaugural flights were greeted with a water salute, a ceremonial welcome for new airlines entering the airport. This addition raises the total number of flight pairs operating from Patna to 37.
The Bhubaneswar-Patna-Bhubaneswar flight (IX 2759/2760) will depart Bhubaneswar at 2:55 pm, arriving in Patna at 4:20 pm, and will return from Patna at 5 pm, reaching Bhubaneswar by 6:30 pm.
The Bengaluru-Patna-Bengaluru flight (IX 2936/2937) will take off from Bengaluru at 6:30 am, land in Patna at 9 am, and return from Patna at 9:15 am, reaching Bengaluru at 12:15 pm.
The Hyderabad-Patna-Hyderabad flight (IX 2894/2887) will depart Hyderabad at 11:05 am, arrive in Patna at 1:05 pm, and leave Patna at 1:45 pm, reaching Hyderabad at 3:55 pm.
From March, Air India Express will introduce additional flights to Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The Bengaluru-Patna-Bengaluru flight (IX 2894/2887) will leave Bengaluru at 1:40 pm, reach Patna at 2:10 pm, and depart at 2:45 pm, landing back in Bengaluru at 5:25 pm.
The Hyderabad-Patna-Hyderabad flight (IX 2826/2827) will take off from Hyderabad at 8:20 pm, arrive in Patna at 10:20 pm, and return at 11 pm, landing in Hyderabad at 1:10 am.
Patna airport, also known as Jay Prakash Narayan Airport, is India’s 15th busiest airport with a runway of 2,016 meters, though only 1,600 meters are in use due to the presence of the Secretariat’s clock tower in the landing funnel. To address space constraints and facilitate future international flights, a new terminal building is under construction, which will feature parking for 12 flights, six aerobridges, and improved facilities for middle-class aircraft like Airbus-320 and Boeing-735. Once completed, the existing terminal will be demolished.
