Labor Minister Surendra Ram Pays Tribute to Bihar Workers Died in Karnataka Accident
PATNA – Surendra Ram, Minister of the Labor Resources Department, paid floral tributes to the workers from Bihar who lost their lives in an accident at a private food processing unit in Aliabad Industrial Area, Vijayapura, Karnataka. The tribute took place at Patna Airport, where he prayed for the peace of their souls.
Joint Secretary Arvind Kumar, Deputy Labor Commissioner Patna, Vijay Kumar, Assistant Labor Commissioner Rajesh Kumar, and other senior officers and department employees also attended the ceremony.
Expressing condolences, Surendra Ram wished strength for the grieving families to overcome their sorrow. He assured that the incident is under constant monitoring, both personally and at the departmental level.
According to the Bihar State Migrant Accident Scheme, grant amounts will be provided to the dependents of the deceased workers in accordance with the rules.
Under the Migrant Laborer Accident Grant Scheme, if a worker, earning a livelihood as a migrant laborer in the unorganized sector outside the state, faces accidental death or disability, the situation is covered by the State of Bihar. As per the scheme, a grant of ₹200,000 is given to the dependents of workers in case of accidental death, ₹100,000 in case of permanent complete disability, and ₹50,000 in case of permanent partial disability. Applications for the scheme can be made online at the RTPS counter in the block or through CSC centers.
Following scrutiny, the District Magistrate approves the application, and the Labor Resources Department transfers the approved grant amount to the applicant’s account through online channels.
