Labour Resources Department Promotes Welfare Schemes at Sonepur Mela 2024

Patna: The Labour Resources Department of Bihar inaugurated its pandal at the iconic Harihar Kshetra Sonepur Mela to promote its various welfare schemes. Deepak Anand, Secretary of the Department, led the inauguration and inspected the stalls showcasing initiatives aimed at benefiting workers and the general public.
The pandal highlights six key divisions of the department, including employment and skill training, construction workers’ welfare, child labour elimination, and employee insurance schemes. Visitors are being informed about programs such as the Skilled Youth Program, Domain Skilling, and migrant labour assistance. Experts are present to provide personal guidance and explain the application processes for these schemes.
During the event, the Secretary emphasised the cultural significance of the Sonepur Mela, which is known as Asia’s largest cattle fair and a hub of Bihar’s heritage. He lauded the fair as an ideal platform to connect with rural and urban visitors, ensuring the reach of welfare initiatives to a wider audience.
Senior officials, including Rajiv Ranjan, Alok Kumar, and Suresh Kumar Singh, were present at the inauguration. The department aims to leverage the fair to increase public awareness and accessibility to its schemes, ensuring tangible benefits for the workforce and their families.
