Lalu Initiates Symbol Distribution for Lok Sabha Candidates in Patna
Patna: In a move signaling the commencement of electoral preparations, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad has begun distributing symbols to candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the residence of his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna. While the NDA has finalized seat sharing arrangements, the Grand Alliance had yet to make similar announcements until now. However, Lalu’s initiative marks a significant step forward in the alliance’s electoral strategy.
RJD has allocated symbols to several candidates, including Kumar Sarvjeet for Gaya, Surendra Yadav for Jehanabad, Archana Ravidas for Jamui, and Sudhakar Singh for Buxar.
Following a meeting with Lalu, his younger son and leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav has expressed confidence in his nomination for the Patliputra seat, asserting that Lalu’s wishes will prevail in the selection process.
The decision holds particular significance as Lalu’s eldest daughter, Misa Bharti, has contested and lost in the Lok Sabha elections twice from the Patliputra seat. Presently, Misa serves as a Rajya Sabha member from RJD, while BJP MP Ramkripal Yadav represents the constituency. Additionally, other contenders, including Male and Maner MLA Bhai Virendra, have staked their claims for the seat, intensifying the electoral landscape.
Lalu has further assigned RJD symbols to candidates such as Abhay Kushwaha for Aurangabad, Shravan Kushwaha for Nawada, and others, indicating a surge in activity within the party’s ranks as elections draw near.
